Pastor Joshua McCord was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. When he was around 2 years old, his family moved to Houston, TX, which Josh would call home for the next 17 years. After earning his diploma from Clear Brook High School in Friendswood, TX in 1999, Josh enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as an Avionics Technician for the CH-53E “Super Stallion” helicopter. During his time in the Corps, Josh served at HMT-302, a training squadron for crew chiefs and pilots.

Through a co-worker at HMT-302, Josh was introduced to (then) Amber Carter in the Summer of 2001, and by January 2002 they were married. Together they have 6 children: Joanna (13), Rebecca (11), Josiah (9), Tabitha (7), Priscilla (2), and Moriah (9 months). Josh and Amber have lived in North Carolina, Virginia, Texas, and Maryland. Amber’s father, Dr. Allen Carter, was used by God to show Josh how real and true the love of Jesus Christ is. Dr. Carter gave Josh a booklet called “The Greatest Soldier Who Ever Lived,” and it reminded Josh that Jesus really is the reason and meaning of life. Josh accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was called to the ministry shortly afterward.

Amber and Josh attended their first church together, Blue Creek Baptist Church, in Jacksonville, NC. It was there that Pastor Terry Hinson, the deacons, and loving church family offered Josh and Amber opportunities to serve in Youth Ministry and many other areas. Josh was ordained as a Deacon and served the widows and community as needed.

When Josh’s service was complete at HMT-302, he was selected for duty at HMX-1, Marine Helicopter Squadron One, in service to the President of the United States. Upon his Honorable Discharge in August of 2008, Josh had earned: The Presidential Service Badge, The rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6), The Navy Achievement Medal, Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Writing Award, Leatherneck Award, A perfect 300 on multiple Physical Fitness Tests, Graduated Honor Man from Boot Camp, Multiple Expert Rifle Awards, and Multiple Meritorious promotions.

In faith, Josh and Amber drove to San Antonio, TX. Although there was no guarantee of home, job, church, or money, God provided all four through His loving grace and will. Apple, Inc. hired Josh as a “Genius,” and soon promoted him to “Lead Genius.” After working at Apple for a couple years, God led Josh to a period of unemployment and patient waiting upon the Lord. This was a 6 month stretch of time where Josh and Amber learned to rely completely on Jesus Christ for every single need in their life. Once again God used His church, and particularly Brian and Lee Towell and their family, to minister to Josh and his whole family.

Josh’s church, Madison Hills Baptist Church in San Antonio, TX, asked Josh to be a Youth Intern, a position that would lead to a Full-Time Youth and Young Adult Pastor opportunity. Through God’s Hand, the Youth and Young Adult ministry was fruitful and lively, and the Kingdom of Heaven grew through the power of the Holy Spirit. The ministry held weekly Bible studies as well as numerous mission trips and outreach programs.

In the Summer of 2013, God called Josh and Amber to once again move across the United States in faith to Maryland.  God also led their dear friends, Ron and Eva Nelson, to accompany them in this work for the Lord. Both families traveled together and landed in Conowingo, MD. With no guarantee of home, job, church or money, God provided all four through His loving grace and will… AGAIN! Conowingo Baptist Church called Josh to be their Senior Pastor in November of 2013.

During Josh’s time with Conowingo Baptist Church, God has led many men and women of all ages to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. God has also opened doors to minister at the local schools, as well as local businesses. Josh currently serves as the Vice President of the Susquehanna Baptist Association, Serves on the Board for the Cecil County Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and is the Chaplain of the Perryville Police Department.

More than anything Josh desires to love God and to love others. Josh’s ministry vision is to see disciples who make disciples. Please feel free to contact him with any questions or comments at (443) 877-8788 (cell).

May God bless you as you seek and find the Lord!!
