Our Mission

Jesus said that people would know His followers by the LOVE they had for one another. You should come expecting to be loved by the people at Conowingo Baptist Church. That love is the reason we exist as a church and we share that love through serving, music, and the preaching of God's Word, just to name a few things.

We are a Southern Baptist Church and partner faithfully in sending missionaries around the world, as well as right here in our local community. What do these missionaries bring? Well the good news of Jesus Christ, of course! What is the good news, or gospel, you might ask? For that we can travel "The Roman Road," which is a quick stroll through some key passages in the book of Romans in the Holy Bible.

Everyone needs salvation because we have all sinned.

Romans 3:10-12Romans 3:23 “as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one. There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away; all alike have become useless. There is no one who does what is good, not even one.” “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (HCSB)

The price (or consequence) of sin is death.

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (HCSB)

Jesus Christ died for our sins. He paid the price for our death.

Romans 5:8 “But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!” (HCSB)

We receive salvation and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.

Romans 10:9-10Romans 10:13 “If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.” “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (HCSB)

Salvation through Jesus Christ brings us into a relationship of peace with God.

Romans 5:1 “Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (HCSB)

Romans 8:1 “Therefore, no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus. (HCSB)

Romans 8:38-39 “For I am persuaded that not even death or life, angels or rulers, things present or things to come, hostile powers, height or depth, or any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!” (HCSB)

Responding to Romans Road

If you believe Romans Road leads to the path of truth, you can respond by receiving God's free gift of salvation today. Here's how to take a personal journey down Romans Road; simply follow the steps by praying out loud to God what you believe in your heart:

1. Admit you are a sinner. Understand that as a sinner, you deserve death.

2. Repent by turning from your old life of sin to a new life in Christ.

3. Believe Jesus Christ died on the cross to save you from sin and death.

4. Confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is the master of your life and your God forever.

5. Receive, through faith in Jesus Christ, his free gift of salvation.

If you have believed in your heart and confessed with your mouth, as God requires, you are now saved!! We would love to hear from you and help you on your journey as a new Christian!!
